Updated version of the original post to show off what is possible with projector_v2!

Quite possibly the laziest of all the lazy apps. projector is a simple workflow droplet app that allows you to easily create and change project folders and icons to keep your film/animation projects nicely organized at a glance. So you can easily go from this:

To this:

In no time at all.

Demo:

QuickTime Version 1440×900 (160MB)

The icons included are modified versions of the default OS X 10.6 icons or icons included with the specific apps, and a few 2001: A Space Odyssey icons made by Mischa Mclachlan.

If you have any requests for icons to include in the release let me know in the comments! It will be easy to keep track of that way and stay attached to this post.

Enjoy! If there are any issues or concerns please contact: andoruLABS.support. Also, this app is free but feel free to donate like a maniac.

    hey Andrew,

the projector droplet runs just fine when clicking on it, but when I drag and drop a folder I get an error that says:

Can’t get alias (alias “MacintoshHD:Users:MYUSER:Desktop:untitled folder:”)

    any tip on that?

    • andrew says:

Is that exactly the error it is giving you? Is it actually I have tested it on other Snow Leopard machines with no issues so I am not exactly sure what could be causing it. It is able to create folders with icons when you just click on it and choose a folder though?

What version of OS X are you using? That is the only thing that comes to mind.

      • Mauricio says:

I’m using leopard yet, version 10.5.8.
If I drag and drop it doesn’t work, but if I just click I have the choose folder dialog box and it does work just fine.

        • andrew says:

You might try to open up the app in Applescript editor and just recompile and save it within Leopard, I have had to recompile and make some changes on some of my apps when a new OS comes out.

Also, is reprojector working for you? If logic prevails it should be doing the same thing as it is only a droplet app.

          • Mauricio says:

            reprojector works just fine.
I tried to recompile but no lucky so far.
I’m sending you a short video showing what’s going on.

Issue solved with help from Mauricio, should work perfectly under 10.5.8 as well now.

    hey andrew!
projector is a great way to customize my projects folders! thanks for making it!
i think all the adobe cs icons in there would be a great add-on.
    just for the future..
    cheers!

    • andrew says:

Yeah good idea. I will probably wait for CS5 to see what icons will be out there. I actually just use the normal CS4 icons that all the apps are contained in for my own folder icons.
