Spec board/reel of my work from 2009, including projects currently in production. I consider myself a VFX generalist with a strong focus on animation. I am very interested in utilizing techniques often reserved only for high-end visual effects for more traditional 2d/3d animation hybrids. Integrating good design with technology in ways it hasn’t been done before.

technical:
Autodesk Maya
-Extremely proficient in entire 3D animation pipeline from start to finish
-Modeling, Rigging, Skinning, Animation, Rendering (RenderMan and MentalRay)
-MEL scripting one-off tools to make each project more efficient
-3D for vfx, fluids, dynamics, and capturing on set details for recreation of environments
-Texture painting and procedural textures, UV mapping
-Pre-visualization of complex scenes and shots
The Foundry Nuke
-vfx compositing and tracking using 2D/3D system
-Re-Rendering in Nuke’s powerful 3D system instead of going back to 3D package
-Managing lens distortion and camera tracking
-Rig-removal, clean plates
-Python scripting, creating new tools
-Translating camera, lighting, geometry from 3D packages into Nuke
-Multi-pass compositing
-Matte painting and set extension
-Animation for Motion Graphics
Adobe After Effects
-translating from 3D packages into AE and back again
-2D/3D compositing and tracking
-Efficiently managing rotoscoping and keying work
-Motion graphics design and animation
-2D character rigging and animation
-Scripting and expressions
Adobe Production Suite
-Using Photoshop, Illustrator, and other design tools in production
-Editing in Adobe Premiere Pro
-Digital storyboarding and rapid concept development in Photoshop
-Creating new brushes/tools

traditional:
-Extremely proficient in hand-drawn animation production from concept to completion. Including storyboarding, animatics/previs, keyframing, testing, clean-up/coloring, sound recording, and music production
-Stop-motion animation production (I love applying CG rigging methods to real world characters!)
-On set production and data management for traditional video/digital cinema productions
-Experience and familiarity with DSLRs, RED ONE digital cinema camera.
